TEPS members volunteer for the Cascade Geographic Society which preserves historic sites such as The Portland Underground, also known as the Shanghai Tunnels.

The Cascade Geographic Society
also has special Ghost Hunters Tours
on Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th.
This is a wonderful project where Paranormal Groups
in the area have joined Project Ghost and set-up
for these wonderful tours.
Please Contact the Cascade Geographic Society
for information about these tours or for you group to take part in Project Ghost.

Our CEO Catherine Duncan was awarded the Golden Eagle Award for her hard work and dedication to the Cascade Geographic Society. She has chosen to share this award with her grandson, Christian.

We'll take ANY volunteers to sift through dirt from
the Portland Underground in search of artifacts.
Deep Creek Lodge, July 2004.

TEPS members take great pleasure in helping out the Cascade Geographic Society. We have all enjoyed a wonderful learning experience and have joined the Society to show our support. When needed, we help out with tours of the Portland Underground, where ambushed men were held before being sold to ship captains for slave labor on voyages to China. Women were also kidnapped and held in the tunnels, then later sold into prostitution in other cities. It's a shady, distasteful history, but one that needs to be remembered.

Michael P. Jones, Director of the Cascade Geographic Society, needs volunteers to help with several projects; such as, tours and work on the Portland Underground and at The Oregon Country Settlement as they develop these educational sites for future generations. Donations to their Museum of the Cascades are welcome, as well.
DEEP CREEK LODGE
The Portland Underground is now earthquake-proofed and a lot of the soil has been removed and taken to Deep Creek Lodge. Work parties took place sporadically during the past few summers to recover artifacts. The artifacts that have been recovered will be cleaned, identified and, eventually, displayed.

PIONEER SETTLEMENT ALONG THE OREGON TRAIL
Located in Rhododendron, Oregon this pioneer site was formerly part of the Oregon Trail. As the years went on, it became a logging camp.

Help is needed in all areas. Construction, removing overgrowth, plumbing, electrical, painting. Lots of areas for anyone to work in.

When the settlement opens there will also be need for sewing pioneer clothing, making soap, candles, providing period music...just to name a few things needed to show what this settlement would have been like back in the late 1800's.

Donations are welcome: Michael Jones welcomes donations of pioneer tools, cooking utensils, clothing, pictures. Anything that our pioneers may have used.

Join us as a volunteer at our living history village in Rhododendron, Oregon.
